Experience
Senior Transport Safety Planner • Transport Accident Commission • July 2018 – July 2021
As the TAC client representative, I managed the investment, evaluation and Safe System embedment relationships with the Department of Transport for the $1.74bn road safety improvement program. I was accountable for achieving high levels of Safe System alignment in the proposed investment packages, their safety and economic effectiveness, and improving Safe System capability (culture change).
I was responsible for providing strategic and expert technical guidance, monitoring and reporting to the Program Director.
Principal Research Engineer • Australian Road Research Board • June 2006 – July 2018
I managed a portion of ARRB road safety research program, working with governments and industry towards implementation of the Safe System.
I created and developed new opportunities and partnerships such as those with HERE, TAC, and state government departments in fields of analytics, technology trials and autonomous vehicles, IoT data. I was responsible for motivating teams of professional staff, and creation of multidisciplinary national project teams. My main areas of activity included further development and integration of the Safe System vision for road transport, dissemination of knowledge and guidance development. In 2017, I led innovation training program for ARRB staff.
Team Leader Traffic • Sunshine Coast Regional Council • January 2003 – June 2006
I led a team of road safety and traffic management staff, both professional and technical. Managed relationships with internal and external stakeholders, e.g. local and state politicians, residents and traders, property developers, transport planners, state and other local government authorities.
Senior Engineer • VicRoads • June 1994 – December 2002
I held a number of positions with a range of responsibilities relating mainly to road safety, traffic studies, traffic management and operations, program and project development, project delivery. I spent approximately three years managing road construction, road design, and road maintenance, including a position in IT.
